What a crazy night of action! The main event is in the books as Shunichi Shimizu defeats Ashkan Mokhtarian via unanimous decision. The Japanese veteran has over 50 professional bouts to his name, and his experience showed in this one. Mokhtarian won the second round, but it was Shimizu who won the first and the third with superior grappling. Hex 19 delivered another night of thrilling action, with slick submissions, devastating knockouts, and back n forth battles inside the cage.
The co-main event is in the books as Yoshiaki Takahashi defeats Aidan Aguilera via unanimous decision. The Japanese warrior executed an extremely effective gameplan by grappling the hometown favourite for three rounds on his way to victory. Aidan Aguilera came on strong at the end of the third round, much to the crowd’s delight, but it was too little too late. Great performance from Yoshiaki Takahashi.
What an amazing performance from Sean Gauci as he defeats Angel Oliveras via first round TKO. Gauci put on a striking clinic in front of his hometown crowd against the American, landing multiple shots to the body and head, dropping Oliveras for the second time before the referee had seen enough. Gauci called for a UFC shot in his post fight interview, and with a performance like that he just may get one.
Our heavyweight contest is in the books as Randall Rayment dominates Jack Tuave for three rounds on his way to a unanimous decision victory. Rayment used his grappling skills to nullify the knockout artist, scoring with takedowns and landing consistent ground n pound for the entirety of the contest. The canvas shook as the punches rained down from this heavyweight warrior.
Wow!! What a finish. Mathew Myers defeats Hoshi Friedrich via KO in the very first round. These two warriors went toe to toe for almost the entire round before Myers landed a thunderous knee to the jaw of Friedrich, dropping him against the cage.
Another great fight is in the books as Sam Hibberd defeats Jeff Mesa via 2nd round submission. Mesa attacked Hibberd with a gruelling style of grappling against the cage, but Hibberd held strong and eventually capitalised on an opening, securing an anaconda choke and getting the tap.
The action continues as Darwin Sagurit defeats Naoto Shimizu via TKO in the very last minute of the third and final round. In what was a memorable battle, Naoto Shimizu attacked Darwin Sagurit with a relentless grappling onslaught as Sagurit answered with some counter grappling of his own, while throwing the powerful punches that he is well known for. Toward the end of the third round the doctor had seen enough and called a stop to the bout. Congratulations to Sugar.
Our second fight is in the books as Jack Jenkins dominates Naoya Uchibayashi. Jenkins controlled the fight from the first horn until the 3.36 minute mark of the very first round when he caught Uchibayashi with a rear naked choke. Jenkins showed his superior grappling expertise during the contest, controlling his opponent from the back and in the mount before scoring the impressive submission victory.
Sara Collins kicks off Hex 19 with a big win in her Hex debut as she defeats Gase Sanita. After three rounds of back and forth action which saw Sara Collins land some nice throws and ground n pound, the judges awarded her the decision. The fight ended with Collins controlling Sanita from the back and working a few tight choke attempts along with ground n pound. Sanita showed great toughness during the bout, which marks her professional debut.
